1984 - Carl Lewis Won the 100 Meters in Los Angeles
Event: Summer Olympics, Los Angeles
Details: The first of four golds in Los Angeles, matching Jesse Owens' 1936 haul event for event. He won the 100 in 9.99 by the largest margin in Olympic history to that point, and spent the rest of the Games being told he wasn't likable enough about it.
1985 - Tom Seaver Won His 300th Game
Event: MLB
Details: In a White Sox uniform, at Yankee Stadium, on Phil Rizzuto Day, in front of 54,032 people. Seaver went the distance for a 4-1 win and finished his career with 311.
1986 - The USFL Folded
Event: Pro Football
Details: Three seasons, Herschel Walker, Jim Kelly, Steve Young, and an antitrust win against the NFL that paid out one dollar. The league cancelled the upcoming season and never played again.
