Details: At 42, in front of 42,869 at Arlington Stadium, Ryan became the first pitcher ever to reach 5,000 strikeouts — and did it on a 96 mph fastball to the greatest leadoff hitter who ever lived. He threw a complete game with 13 Ks and finished his career with 5,714.
