80s Music Released on August 13th

1985 - Primitive Love

Artist: Miami Sound Machine (with Gloria Estefan)
Billboard Charts: #23
Note: Their first all-English album, and the one with "Conga" on it — a song a record executive reportedly said was too Latin for Americans and too American for Latins. It went top ten and stayed at every wedding reception since.

1986 - Feel My Power

Artist: MC Hammer (Debut Album)
Note: Hammer was the Oakland A's batboy, then borrowed $20,000 from A's players Dwayne Murphy and Mike Davis to start his own label and press this himself. Capitol picked it up two years later and the rest happened very fast.
